Get involved
Help shape the GAAPx Score.
We are building the GAAPx Score with finance leaders. If you want to help shape how it measures your work, tell us where you can help.
What you would do
- Shape the questions. Tell us whether a question asks what a finance team would actually ask.
- Shape the areas and levels. Tell us what each of the nine areas should cover and what each level looks like in a real team.
- Review use cases. Read one and tell us where it is wrong, thin or missing something a controller would raise.
- Share how your work runs. At process level only, as in "invoices are matched in three steps and two people approve". No employer or client data.
- Disagree. Pushback is useful and we record it.
What it takes
- We plan a call about every two weeks and send notes after. Most of the work is written, and you do it on your own time. We size each request before you agree.
- You can skip any call. You can step back at any time, with no reason needed.
What you get
We cannot pay for your time, and we would rather say so now. Here is what you get.
- Credit. If you agree, you are listed on the Contributors page.
- Your advice is recorded, with the reason we accepted it or went another way.
Your name on the page shows you gave time to the method. It does not mean you back any product, including ours.
How we work together
Five rules to start with.
- Be respectful and candid. Say what you think, plainly and kindly. Disagree with the idea, not the person.
- Keep confidential material out. No employer or client data, names or figures, and nothing confidential in AI tools. Describe how a process runs, not what is in it.
- No selling and no recruiting. This is not a place to pitch products, services or jobs.
- If you work for, advise or own part of a vendor, say so. You are welcome here. We note it next to your credit.
- Credit only with consent. Do not quote another member outside the group without asking. We do not quote you without your agreement.
Check that your employer is comfortable with you taking part.
Read all guidelines
- Be respectful and candid. Say what you think, plainly and kindly. Disagree with the idea, not the person.
- Keep confidential material out. No employer or client data, names of clients or anything covered by an agreement. Describe how a process runs, not the figures in it.
- Do not put confidential material into AI tools. That covers your employer's data, client data and anything another member shared with the group.
- Check that your employer is comfortable with you taking part.
You can ask us to change or remove your credit at any time.
- How decisions are made. The GAAPx team decides. Contributors advise. We record the advice and our reason, including when we went another way.
- Where we talk. Work happens by email and shared notes.
- Disagreements. Raise it in the thread first. If it is not settled, the GAAPx team decides and gives the reason. Anyone can ask for their disagreement to be recorded.
- Stepping back. You can leave at any time. If someone breaks the rules on confidential material, selling or quoting, or stays disrespectful after one warning, we may ask them to step back and we explain why in private.
Questions
Is it paid?
No, and we say so up front. You get credit for your work: if you agree, your name goes on the Contributors page.
How much time does it take?
We plan a call about every two weeks and send notes after. Most of the work is written, and you do it on your own time. We size each request before you agree.
Is my employer's data safe?
We do not ask for it. Do not share employer or client data, names or figures, and keep confidential material out of AI tools. Check that your employer is comfortable with you taking part. If something slips out, tell us and we remove it.
Can I stay anonymous?
Yes. Listing is optional and is a separate choice on the form. Listing is all or nothing for the details you give on the form: your name, your role and your company if you gave one. You can ask us to change or remove your listing at any time.
Can I leave?
Yes, at any time, with no reason. Tell us through the Contact page and we remove your listing. If you ask, we delete your record.
Do I need to be a CFO?
No. We want finance people who run the work: CFOs, controllers, senior accountants, internal control and audit people. What matters is hands-on experience and a willingness to be challenged.
Is this a sales pitch?
No. We do not ask you to buy anything, and the guidelines ask members not to sell to each other.
Who else is involved?
The Contributors page lists everyone who agreed to be listed, and nobody else.
Tell us where you can help
A short form. Name, work email, role and where you can help are all we need.
